Wondering about Bootcamp

Okay I need to know some basics and if this has already been posted, you could include a link, but I don't want to go through 110 pages =D

I know what Bootcamp is, but, is all you need is -

1. Bootcamp Assistance- Utilities folder
2. Windows OS
3. Backup of Mac OS

(????????)

Is that everything, or do I need to purchase the actual program Bootcamp?

I have a Mac OS 10.5.8

Also what are the versions that you can use with bootcamp for Windows?? XP, Vista, 98, 7??

Also when I try to run Bootcamp Assistance I get this message. - What do I do?? It is foreign to me! =D

(Do i need to copy my entire hard drive?) If I need to do this, what is the easiest way to backup your hard drive if it is 84GB... do I need to go out and buy a external hard drive, or is there a simpler way??
