I just downloaded a couple of new fonts. I was able to install them with no problem. BUt, when I try to use the type tool in either PSE8 or CS5 with the new font I can ONLY type in caps. Anyone know how I can correct this problem?

Thanx in advance.

Well somebody who's an expert with those programs might be able to tell you something if you provide the names of the fonts.

I'm not sure I know what you mean by programs. I can tell you this. One font is called Scriptina, and the other is called Chopin script. I hope this is enough info for this.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the fonts.

It may be that those fonts have only got uppercase glyphs, especially if they are decorative or display fonts

Good point made by louishen. Check by opening your "Font Book.app" from Applications and display the fonts you installed. Are they all CAPS?

Did you try reinstalling them?

About to remove and reinstall them right now. I just checked the Font Book and both fonts show upper and lower case letter as well as numbers.

I'll let you know what happens after the reinstall.

Ok I have uninstalled the new fonts. I then reinstalled them and I'm still having the same problem. They only work in caps. I can't get the lowercase letters to print.

Still having problems?

Start by downloading Onyx and use it to delete all font caches

Apple - Downloads - System/Disk Utilities - OnyX

Then think about using the free version of Font explorer to manage your fonts better

If you are going to use a lot of fonts I would recommend using a proper font manager instead

Font book is not the best app, the free font explorer is much much better

Linotype FontExplorer X Download - Softpedia

If you really want to manage your fonts well I suggest the suitcase (another font management tool - not free) guide to best font practices in OS X (the guide is free)

Just substitute use Suitcase with use Linotype FontExplorer

I thought those were obscure programs I'd never heard of.

Is your caps lock key on? (I'm only kidding!)
