I have a 27" iMac with Aperture 3 and a big library.

I am being gifted with a Macbook Pro for Christmas with Aperture 3 pre-installed.

I have all my present Aperture collection backed up in several ways including Ap Vault.

Can I attach my Vault to the "virgin" Aperture in the MBP and populate it?

Or must I use the Migration Assistant or otherwise Copy my current Library to the new MBP?

With many thanks.

I haven't used the vault in Aperture, but in my experience you need to have your library on the computer you plan on using, or on an attached external drive. I have tried putting my libraries (both iPhoto and Aperture) on shared network drives and could not tolerate the delays.

My reccomendation FWIW would be to pick up a Seagate external (small, lightweight and relatively cheap) and copy your library to it (probably a good idea to rename it) and work off that.
