Lan connection just doesnt work

Hi guys

Second post so another big hello to everyone.

I have just plugged in my lan connection to my mac to use internet on it but it doesnt seem to work.

The connecton works fine on my pc and all I did was just plug it in to the mac.

Am I missing something?

Just figured it out and set up a connection. Thanks for reading this anyway guys.

ANOTHER UPDATE (rather than waste another thread I though best to use this useless one productively)

As by now I'm sure you can see when it comes to mac's Im a bit slow. I just ran the software update thingy and it gives me the option of installing Java for Mac OSX 10.4 Release 9, Quick time and Security update 2009-005 (Intel)

Are these all ok to install... will they help?

You should install all updates suggested by Software Update. These updates enhance the security and performance of your machine and may also add features.

Im just about to run cleanmymac to get rid of all the rubbish on there.

Im gonna start looking into upgrading/speeding up the machine but Im not sure how to do it as its a bit old
