Connecting Non-Network and Networkable Printer

To connect an older HP laser jet printer which is not network capable. With my old PC I connected through a little printer server but Apple only recognizes N and G and this one's a D. Is there a low cost alternative to merely running a long cable back to my iMac? BTW, the HP has a USB output.
