I am trying to set up Home Sharing on my two Macs. I have an iMac and a Netbook Pro. Both are running the latest version of iTunes. I followed the steps to activate Home Sharing in iTunes on both computers.

The iMac can "see" the Netbook Pro as a "shared" iTunes libary.

However, the Netbook Pro cannot "see" the iMac as a shared library.

The iMac is older and holds our complete music library. The Netbook Pro is newer and I installed iTunes on it for the first time today. There is currently no music in its library.

I would like to access our complete iTunes library (on the iMac) from the Netbook Pro.

I can't figure out what the problem is. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Is the iMac turned on and awake? Won't see it while it's asleep.

Are both computers logged into the same iTunes account?

IF the answer is yes to both, then go into the iMac and turn Homesharing off, log out and back in, then turn it on again.

Thanks for the reply. That didn't work. Still not seeing MBP on the iMac.

Could it be a setting on the router?

I did some trouble shooting.

I switched the iMac from Ethernet to AirPort.
Switched the MPB from AirPort to Ethernet.

Problem reversed. MPB can now see iMac, but not the other way around.

Second troubleshooting:

I set both computers up at Airport. Neither could see the other.

I guess the problem is in the wireless setup, either on the computers or in the router. Suggestions?

More troubleshooting--disabled wireless security on my wireless router and everything works. Put it back to WPA2 Personal security and nothing works.

Probably first, I'd update iTunes. 10.1.1 just came out with quite a few bug fixes.

What router are you using.

First thing to try is turn the router off and back on.

Then probably check that it's not blocking ports. Try forwarding TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353.

When I reactivated the wireless security, everything worked fine. Go figure.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll cross my fingers it continues to work.
