I was wondering if it's possible to determine how large and where you want a window to be when openenig an application. When I open a file in text edit, for example, it's a certain size and I have to resize it. I'd like to be able to have it open at a size I choose, maybe even open it in full screen.

It depends on the application.

Most applications will open existing files at the same size as they were when they were last saved.

TextEdit always opens files in windows at the same size, but I'm not sure why anyone would use TextEdit for anything except as a last resort.

There are decent, more advanced, free alternatives to Text Edit that will do what you want
