Hi!
I have a Macbook Pro that came with Tiger originally. The problem is that I need to format it so I can do a fresh install of the new Pro Tools software. However, I've left my restore discs at college while I'm home for christmas.

I have two friends with Macbook Pros. One has got the Panther restore discs, and the other's got Snow Leopard. Will I be able to use either of these to restore my computer?

No.

Restore discs are system specific. They will not work.

You're still going to need your own discs. Those borrowed discs will allow you to erase and format the drive. However, they will not install on your machine.

Panther no matter what CD it is will not install on any Intel Mac. Unless the restore DVD's came with the exact model and spec Mac, they will not install on yours.
