IMac Memory Upgrade Help

I have a Imac 27" Core 2 Duo 3.06 that came with 4GB .. 2 X 2GB Sticks I went to CompUsa and grabbed 2 Kingston 4GB Sticks KVR1333D3S9/4GETR and I have moved them around from bottom to top from side to side in the slots and the Mac only reads 8GB MAX
bad RAM ??? anyone else have this problem or do I just have the wrong RAM
