cd drive not working

The CD drive of my Macbook is not working. It tries to read the disc, but can't latch on, and then just ejects itself. There's nothing wrong with the disc because I've tried it on another computer and it works fine. The last time I actually used the CD drive was probably a year ago, but there's no reason it shouldn't be working now? I bought my Macbook about a year and a half ago, and it's currently running OS 10.6.5. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try a different disk and if that doesn't work, then the drive may be bad.

I've tried DVDs and CDs, neither kind will work. What can I do?

find a lens cleaner cd. if that doesnt work your drive is probably botched
