• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I have a Mac Mini and MacBook Pro, both of which I purchased within the last 6 months. I also have iMovie '09 installed and need to buy a camcorder that integrates seamlessly with iMovie '09.

My preferences in a camcorder:
1. Uses flash memory. (No Hard drives, tapes, dvd's etc)
2. Would prefer High Definition
3. I want to keep the price less than $500.
4. Would prefer to stay away from Sony. - I've had reliability issues with their camcorders in the past.

I read that with older versions of iMovie, many flash memory based camcorders that were supposedly mac compatible still had issues playing well with iMovie. This is why i would like peoples input on what they have used and know to work well. Specific model numbers would be most helpful.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
crazychile
