I have a mid 2009 Mac book pro I use for my entertainment purposes. I have it connected to a 32 inch LCD with the lid down 99% of the time. I can watch one hulu show np but if I watch two my fans turn all the way up to 4000 Rpms and my CPU gets really hot. The fans are so loud I can't enjoy my show cause I am worry it's ruining my Mac. It does the same thing with safari and fire fox and after I watch one show and the fans are so load I can switch to netflix and my computers fans will almost instantly slow down and it all goes to normal. Can anyone help me with this issue? I would really like to watch more than one show a night sometimes. Ty

Not much you can do. As Crimson points out, Flash really tasks the CPU and it will get hot driving the fans to higher RPMs.

You can try using a notebook cooling stand as some gamers do, but I'm not sure it will help all that much. We always tell the folks not to worry as the machine will shut itself down if it overheats, however, I well understand the concern. I don't like it either when my machine goes into overdrive during a game or Flash video.

Agreed with the others - just one other thing, leave the lid open to allow for additional cooling (heat rises, the screen blocks it).

Altho I still hate it I sure do appreciate your posts. It has really made me feel better. Also does anyone know how to keep the screen blank if I open it while it's connected to my tv. For some reason for me it is distracting to see both going at the sAme Time.

Just turn the brightness all the way down.
