Recently, my 2.5 y/o macbook pro died (stated cause: fried logic board). apple replaced the comp out of warranty, and time machine took care of most of the transition.

only two problems so far, both minor:
1. my apple remote is still paired to the old dead computer.
2. itunes is still authorized on the old comp.

is there any way to removed these old associations?

thanks for your help.

thanks for the tip about de-authorizing all, that should help.

You can pair your remote following these instructions:

Pairing your Apple Remote with your computer

i get that, that's how i paired the remote in the first place. but i can't use my old computer to un-pair, and my new computer won't recognize the remote because it's already paired to the old machine.

is there a way to un-pair the remote without access to the old computer?

I believe you can remove the battery and let the memory "die". Here's how to open it up and remove the battery. LINK Let us know if that works.

To reset the remote without a computer, simply press(on the remote) and hold the MENU + BACK/REWIND buttons together for about 6 seconds.

That's a lot easier than removing the battery! ;D Thanks for posting.
