thats what i meant sorry. i have this Amazon.com: Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Female Adapter Cable for Apple Macbook, Macbook Pro, iMac, Macbook Air, Mac Mini Laptop: Electronics

i dont know how to make audio work, im not familiar with mac setting yet.

Ah gotcha.

Well it does have some sketchy reviews, but if the HDMI doesn't automatically switch over to sound try this:
Apple Menu -> System Preferences -> Sound -> Output then change it to HDMI out.

One way to make 100% sure your Mac will support HDMI sound out is to go to Apple Menu -> About this Mac -> More Info -> Audio (Built In). If it has HDMI output listed, it will work. If you have that and you still don't have sound after doing the above, it is probably the adapter. Some people have reported issues not using the proprietary Apple adapter.

had to change audio ac3 to DTS audio in VLC player :p thanks for the help.
