Best Option for RAM Upgrade

Be gentle. It's my first time on mac-forums.

I searched the site for info I could use before I posted this, but nothing concrete came up, so I'm hoping I'll find help here.

My system specs are below. I'm interested in maxing out my ram, but I'm getting conflicting info on what the limit would be.

Crucial.com's system eval and their customer support insist that my system can only handle 2x1g chips. Other boards and some wiki info suggest that my model can take 2x2g, but only access 3.3g of the total 4g because of system constraints.

I know that ram is relatively cheap so its not a big deal, but I'm trying to get the real answer here before I move forward.

From what I can find, it will only handle up to 2gb of RAM.

Well I threw the serial into Apple hardware specs and it says 2GB.

Everymac has these two pages: MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.0 13" (White/07) Specs (Mid-2007, MB061LL/A, MacBook2,1, A1181, 2139) @ EveryMac.com or MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.0 13" (White/06) Specs (Late 2006, MA700LL/A, MacBook2,1, A1181, 2121) @ EveryMac.com which both state 4GB

So it looks like you can get 4GB

It was built in January 2007, so that's 3 gig

Here's what Other World Computing has to say

May 2007 MacBook 2.0GHz model supports up to 4.0GB Memory; Late 2007 'Santa Rosa' MacBook 2.0GHz Model supports up to 6.0GB of memory.

I would recommend against that. That's a pretty pricey kit.

Check out: Newegg.com - Mushkin Enhanced 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Memory for Apple Model 976559A Plus it has 5 latency, very low, which is good.
