Uptimes

Whats everybodys highest uptimes? I am up 9Days right now.

Kind of pointless thread, just wondering though.

Well, I just took apart my laptop to clean it, so currently only sitting at 2 days 3 hours. My record though was probably my Power Mac G5 - something retarded like 60 days.

Currently 14 days. I'm sure I've gone a few months without a shutdown.

My friend, who never shuts down his MacBook or updates it, is probably at around 6 months to a year... I should ask him one day.

6 months.

6 months really ? Isn't it a bit slow after that long without a single reboot ?

Mac OS X is not, I repeat, NOT like Windows.

There's a tidy-up feature built into Mac OS X (and the subsequent UNIX kernel if I'm not mistaken) called "cron". It clears the system up. It runs everyday I think.

I think I've managed six weeks at most on my Macbook. Typical uptime is somewhere between two to four weeks. As of right now my Macbook is sitting at 16 days of uptime.

My Windows desktop usually stays up around two to three weeks before I restart.

My up times are less then a day on average. I restart my computer on a little less then a a daily basis. And when I don't use the computer for any length of time I shut it down.

And to Chris H. - The cron is the daily, weekly and monthly scripts OS X runs. I know you can run then anytime with Oynx. The one thing I don't know is if they are set to run at a certain time each day/week/month or if you miss that time, Ie the computer being turned off or in full sleep, can the computer do them out when it needs to?

Longest time was in between the 10.6.4 and 10.6.5 updates. It was a heck of a time between them and remember restarting once as i had to restart after updating another App.
With my once i a while cleanup with MainMenu i dont really think about it these days. I just do what i do and dont think about the need to restart all the time now ....
