Hello,

I currently have a Mac G5 and was having a few problems with my boot up. Unfortunately, the screen was getting stuck at the logo screen and would not take any commands when entered manually as well.

I took my Mac into a repair shop and they are stating that either my Logic Board or Processor has went bad. However, they are advising me that I need to purchase both of them, for a grand total of $1500 with a $500 installation.

Wouldn't a repair shop be able to determine whether a Logic Board or Processor was the problem instead of having me purchase both?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I don't know what repair shop you went to, but that's ridiculous. You can buy a new iMac G5 for a fraction of that price. Or better yet, invest in a brand new Intel Mac. :Smirk:

Yes $1500 to fix what probably is a 5-6 year-old computer is insane...especially when you can buy a brand new (and MUCH more capable computer) for less.

Sounds like a hard drive issue to me. Did you try and boot from the install DVD OSX disc,...thats what I would have done first.

If you have the budget, now is the time for a new(er) Mac.
