Safari popups and redirects

Hi

I've got a bit of a weird issue, when I click on a google search result i sometimes get redirected to some other website. It's not always the same site, in fact I can't remember it redirecting to the same site twice, sometimes it's porn, another time Ask Jeeves and another Gomeo.

Also, should safari always be opening the links in a new window? I'm usually a windows user and this is my girlfriends laptop so I'm not sure if this is standard for Safari.

If you just left click, Safari should be opening the link in the same window..getting redirected to other places means it's a DNS exploit..

What Mac does your girlfriend have? What version of OS X? What version of Safari?

Ask her if any of this looks familiar. It's possible that she has the DNSChanger trojan. If she does have it, you can get the removal tool here.

The Mac OS X version is 10.4.11.
Safari Version 4.1.3 (4533.19.4).

There is no left click, it's a MacBook and only has one button.

I've tried the removal tool and it's not found anything. Any other tips or pointers?

Left click = click.

What are the DNS servers listed in the Network pref pane (System Preferences > your connection type > Advanced... > DNS)?

It doesn't seem to have any DNS settings set.

Any more ideas guys? We're still struggling with this.
