Hi,
This morning my laptop's speakers quit. The news was playing on the computer's speakers and through the airport speakers.
While sitting at the computer I heard a little "pop" sound in the Left Speaker and heard that it was silent. Two minutes later in the right speaker I heard the same "pop" sound and it also went silent. The remote speakers still work perfectly.

It seems suspicious that the speakers would quit in sequence and it seems like there must be some kind of short, or like a fuse blew........?

This computer is about three years old - applecare has just expired (of course)

Is there any fix for this that I can do on my own??

Can you hear the startup chime when first booting the machine? Do headphones work?
