I have an ibook that I am trying to connect to a Canon BJC printer using a usb to parallel cable. Cable did not come with a cd with software or driver. Downloaded a driver from Canon that was supposed to work with osx, but did not. Computer recognized printer, but the printer does not work. Need help to get this printer working. Thanks for your help.

Does the device show up in system profiler?

My guess would be that the parallel connection is too slow and the job dies in buffer trying to wait for the parallel connection to get the info to the printer.
