How would I go about doing this? I specifically need to know the file extension and any else necessary.

Try using /Applications/Automator.app

Use the "Run Shell Script" from the "Utilities" Library. Enter your script commands and be sure to save the workflow as an application. double clicking will execute it or calling it from the terminal with the open command will also call it.

You're going to need to be a little more specific. Are you trying to make one and execute it or have you gotten a script that needs to be run? What are you trying to accomplish?
