external hard drive recommendation

Hi,

I would like to ask you which external hard drive recommend me for my MBP.( will use it to back up creative work and bring work from school to home)
G-Technology 1TB G-DRIVE High or Iomega 1TB MiniMax Hard Drive FireWire 800/USB

do you know if both of the devices need power external power supply to work

G-tech by a country mile, thanks to the Oxford chipset it uses, but at a cost.

Better with an external power supply rather than the usb port, not a strong Mac feature.
