Hi

I have a Mac Pro bought around 2006.
I need to connect to the internet to update my OS, install Xcode etc.
I don't believe I have built in wireless networking capability.
How can I connect to my wireless network please (it is already set up in my house and I have the ID and password)?

Cheers,
Chris.

P.S. I did have a look round before posting but couldn't find a step-by-step guide I could understand.

I would say the first step is installing a wireless card in your Mac Pro, otherwise use the ethernet input. (Ethernet output from your router to the input of your Mac Pro by CAT-5 cable.)

Is this a second hand 2006 Mac Pro you just bought?

Hi

Thank you for your reply.
Is there any way you can check on mac to see if you have built-in wireless capability or do macs even have this (just want to check I don't already have this before I buy a wireless card)?
This is a MAc Pro I bought new in around 2006. However, I need to update my OS as I am about to start programming games and XCode only runs on Leopard and Snow Leopard (I only have Tiger 10.4.7)

Cheers,
Chris.

Checking the specs for your machine shows that the airport card was an optional add in for that year's model Mac Pro. You can find out for yourself easy enough by opening up your System Profiler.app from Applications, Utilities.
