Hi and welcome to M-F hudriver

All i can suggest is if you have the OS install DVD that came with the machine use a great little App called Pacifist and use that to extract the Preview .app file and reinstall it on your Mac.

Thanks TattooedMac. Unfortunately I can't find the OS install CD that came with my computer. Woe is me. Do you have any other suggestion?

You will need the disks and Pacifist as TattoedMac suggested.

Lost it from where? It resides in the Applications folder, but most people have it (alias) in the Dock. If it's gone from the Dock only, no worries, it's still on your Mac (as explained).

Have you searched for it using Finder? From desktop, type Cmd-F, and then enter Preview in the Search field. You don't need to do anything else. If Preview is in fact still lurking somewhere on your Mac, Finder will ..... find it!

Thanks hughvane. The alias in the dock doesn't load the application, it's not in my application folder and I can't find it using find or spotlight. It's just not there. It's also gone from my external backup drive. I guess I'll have to try to find an OS 10.4.11 install disc and try to extract it.

You can call Apple and get a replacement Tiger disc for your particular Mac. Or, you can buy Snow Leopard.

I went to the Apple Store Genius Bar and was told they could reinstall it in an hour and half. I bought Snow Leopard instead. Problem solved. Thanks.
