Hi

I have recently been using iPlayer to catch up with TV on my iMac.... as you do.
However, the past 3 times I have used it my iMac displays the 'ShutDown Message'.

Is there a reason behind this? How can I stop it from doing it?

My MacBook plays back iPlayer programs fine so im worried there is something wrong with my video playback through my iMac....

Any help?

What sort of shutdown message, the normal dialogue box, or when the whole screen shuts down and you are told to restart in several languages (the Kernal Panic)

A Kernal Panic just means that SX has come across a situation it cannot recover from and stops dead. It happens, but if it is always sparked by iPlayer, then the problem is probably with Adobe Air.

I have iPlayer installed with no problems so far

I would firstly try uninstalling Air (/Applications/Utilities/) and BBC Iplayer desktop, then reinstalling.

Afterwards run a permissions repair using Disk Utility, after a restrart see if the problem persists

bbc i player and adobe air

Yesterday 8th december adobe air updated : prompted by bbc i player desk top shortly after my mac pro shut down it restarted and then shut down I ran system management controller. I restarted ran bbc i player and once again it shut down. I restarted again and ran the computer without running the iplayer desktop the computer has now been running for 18 hours without a glitch I have used app cleaner to get rid of the i player desktop and I am now listening to bbc radio directly from their website so far without an issue.
I ask if anyone else has had his problem or whether I have some sort of power management problem with my mac pro
