Hey guys,

I need some help. The battery in my Macbook has finally given up, will no longer charge, and is now completely dead. Which is not a problem as I have had the thing for over 4 years now.

I have tried to power up the mac by using only the mains, but the mac will not turn on. Is it a problem with my mac that is preventing it from switching on?

Welcome to the Mac Forums.

You may have a defective or partially working MagSafe adapter. Even if the battery is stone dead, the MagSafe should power up your MacBook. You might want to try another MagSafe adapter before investing in another battery.
