Plug Power Cord in = Trackpad Doesn't Work

I have a new MacBook pro that has been amazing since I bought it.
Well I just plugged the power cord in and the trackpad stopped working. When I unplug the computer, the trackpad works again (although it's a bit sluggish)
I've restarted it a couple times and it hasn't fixed anything.

Any ideas?

Try Repair Permissions under Disk Utility and if no joy try from the install DVD.
