What would be the command to remove an item from the dock in terminal? I use a command to add an item but I can't find anywhere that shows you how to remove one. Any help would be appreciated. also i'm using 10.4 and 10.5 machines.

Can't help you specifically right now but each item in the dock is listed as a "persistent app" in com.apple.dock.plist in ~/Library/Preferences (Root > persistent-apps). I'm sure you could develop a defaults command to rid of a dock icon. Let me see if I can come up with one. Note though that this method would require you know the position of the dock icon (although you could search through the plist for it).
