Macros for the Mac?

In Windows, there are several programs (e.g. KeyExpress) which provide macros. What is available for the Mac?

Automator

(I've never used it, nor did I ever use Apple Script.)

What are you looking to do? Automator and AppleScript as stated - but there are all the open source scripting languages like perl, ruby, python, tcl etc.

Straight hot keys can be defined In system preferences. I use better touch tool for mouse/keyboard customization.

I think he means a text expander like ... well, TextExpander! Or Typinator, which I use. There are dozens of these programs for the Mac. Snow Leopard has a limited version of this ability built right in, check out "Text" under the "Language and text" system preference, scroll down to the bottom, add your own!

Whatever he's looking for, QuicKeys will do it.
