I have CDs that were burned on a Mac G3 tower. My new iMac has problems recognizing them. Sometimes it does, other times it does not. When I say it does not I mean the CD inserts with no difficulty and the iMac does not eject it, it just sits there with no icon appearing on the desk top. I also have the problem with the cache of blank CDs I used on the ol' G3.

Suggestions?

Not much you can do if your new iMac won't read them. If you still have the source material, burn it again on the iMac.

It's possible that you didn't close the CDs when you burned them on the G3 tower, or you used a different format from the standard ISO 9660.

As a further suggestion, see if you can lay your hands on an external USB or firewire CD drive to see if your iMac will read the disks that way (I've done this myself). If successful, copy the disks to new media, using a reputable brand, eg. Imation.

Were you by any chance using OS 9 on the old G3?
