hi

i've got an imac g5 which i run through a belkin router connected to a
pc.

i've also got an ibook with airport extreme which picked up the the router
no problem

i want to file share between the imac and ibook and thought i needed
an airport extreme card in the imac ( which it does not have yet )

will i need airport base as well for both macs to see each other and file share or will they connect with each other with airport extreme cards
alone?

can any network experts help??

kind regards

You won't need the AP base station. As long as the computers are networked through the router, you are fine. You already have file sharing active, so you really don't need to do anymore. If you want to connect to the iMac from the iBook, just choose "Network" from the Finder sidebar, and you will then have a list of available mount points. Just choose the iMac and you are good to go.

The two Macs can't connect with APE cards alone, but you are fine as long as you have the router.

what i havent said is i've never bothered trying to get
the mac to see the pc or vice versa, but hope the
macs will connect through the router when they both have
airport extreme - is that correct?
