My 3GS says the thing about "This accessory is not optimized for iPhone.. blah." But there's no accessory connected? Just restored it yesterday... any ideas?

iPhone's sometimes do this when they have come into contact with liquid or humidity. There are two ways to check from the outside:

First, shine a light into your iPhone’s headphone jack. At the base of this opening is a white tab. If this tab has turned pink or solid red your iPhone has taken in some type of liquid through this port.

Next, shine the light in your iPhone’s dock connector and look for the small white square shaped tab located at the bottom center of your iPhone’s charge port underneath the center bar that goes into your charger. If that white tab has turned pink or solid red your iPhone has taken in some type of liquid or humidity through its dock connector port.

If one or both of these sensors have been triggered it is likely that your iPhone has been water damaged. Especially if the issue persists after doing a full restore through iTunes. Hope this helps.
