My Ipod touch battery started going down quickly after updating the latest firmware. I had the battery analised at the Apple store and was told that it was ok. They suggested I should turn it off more frequently instead off putting it on sleep. Still seems to be going down more quickly than it did before. Is there some reason the latest software version could do this?

Didn't the latest software for the iPod Touch add multi-tasking? I would start my investigation there.

Push notifications and Bluetooth, IMO, have a greater effect. Turn them off and see if you see a difference.

Have you tried charging it for 24 hours. This was suggested to me by apple and made a significant difference to the battery usage time.

Yes I have tried an extended charge. If I just put it to sleep, after about a day or two battery is about half down.

Not sure what you mean. How would I do this?

You would do it through settings.
