Hi!

I'm new in Mac. I have a MacBook Pro and a Panasonic digital camera that films great HD videos in MTS format.

I know that Quicktime Player and iMovie don't support MTS videos, but is there any codec to add to this programs in oder to be able to watch and edit MTS videos with them??

I don't want to convert the videos to a supported format because it would be impossible with all the time it takes to convert and all the videos i have.

Thanks in advance!!
Nacho

PS: I downloaded VLC Player and it works fine, but I would like to use Mac aplications... and VLC ins not for editing...

Surely your referring to older versions of imovie...09 / 11 versions of imovie work fine with MTS....

Hi Codda!
I have iMovie '11: Version 9.0 (1073).

However, when I go to File, import, movies, the MTS files are shown in gray, like not available to import and I can't choose them.

Am I doing something wrong?
Sorry for my ignorance!

Thanks!!!

Are you importing through the camera...? Hook up the camera ( via usb )open imovie, click import from camera ( have the camera on ) then click the set but on the camera when you scroll to pc...the files should import automatically....

The problem is I'm trying to import to iMovie MTS videos stored on a USB HDD I have before having my MacBook.

So if I import directly from the camera it will work, but when the video has been removed from the camera it won't. Right?

Thanks again!

Well...it still could if the correct file structure was intact...If you had the files only on the USB...no...but if you had the entire AVCHD file from the camera you could still import the video. Going foward...the easiest way to go is direct connect the camera via USB and import from there...
