13" MBP Late 2010 2.4ghz, 4GB, 250HD - 2010 iMac 21.5-inch 3.06GHz Intel Core i3, 500HD, 4GB
So, I was wondering if I could put 16GBs of ram in my BRAND NEW MacBook Pro 13" 2.4 with 4GB ram. I can get 2x8gb DDR3 PC3-8500 for it.

Possible without problems??

As far as I know...this 13" Macbook Pro only supports 8 gig of ram...and even if it did support 16 gig of ram...why the heck would you want to do it!!! What could you possibly be doing on this computer to need 16 gig of ram???...and let's not even talk about how much it would cost!:(

I'd be running Ableton Live, Sonar, Logic, Pro tools, as well as Itunes and some other stuff. lol And I found some on Ebay for $200.

Like I mentioned...your laptop only supports 8 gig of ram (in fact no Apple notebooks at this time support more then 8 gig of ram).

Also...if you're buying ram on e-Bay...make EXTRA sure it is compatible with Macintosh computers....otherwise your next post here on Mac-Forums will be...

"Why doesn't the ram I bought on e-Bay work in my Macbook Pro?";)

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
8 GB is plenty for what you are doing anyway.
What will help is a faster HD ir even an SSD.
Recording software is equally dependant on processor speed, HD space and speed, and the amount of RAM.

There ya go...two great sites for Macintosh ram. I think that I saw that an 8 gig upgrade (4 gig x 2) for your computer was about $145.

8GB is on sale at OWC and other places. I'm betting it would work just fine. For $120, give it a shot and see if it does the job before committing to "uncharted territory". If you do get the 16GB and it works, please post again and let us know how it's working for your needs. I'm sure everyone would be interested in seeing it's advantages and/or disadvantages.
