Saving MS word files

From MS word for Mac I cannot see the file structure I need to locate the file where I want to put it. This is a complete joke!
Even the mac text edit allows you to see and select any file location you want.
any suggestions. Word on a PC does not have this problem

You mean in the save dialogue box?

THere is a down arrow to the right of the filename entry field. That will expand the save dialogue to ley you see the file system

Yes, the problem appears to be user unfamiliarity with the OS, not the OS itself. But I do always say that the location of that dang arrow is awful. It should be next to the folder ("Where:"), not the file name.
