Weird Display Problem after RAM upgrade

I upgraded my friends PPC G5 to a gig of ram and now the display is crazy.

The only thing I can think or is that the ram is faulty. Any other ideas?

One way to find out would be to take the ram out and see if it still displays those aberrations!

think there is only 1 stick so the if i take it out it wont boot

How did it boot before the ram upgrade?

I highly doubt it just has one stick. The very first iMac G5 has 2 sticks, while the G5 with iSight has onboard ram with one stick to upgrade, so you should have ram regardless.

Are we talking about an iMac G5 or a Powermac G5?

Can't be a powermac, that's a full-size tower with a full-blown mobo.

its the all in one type. White, quite old. 1 ram slot underneath

Those types (The G5 iMacs with iSight) Can support up to 2.5gb of ram. They have a half gig installed on their logicboard, and one slot underneath which can take up to a 2gig stick. You'll be fine taking out the stick you put in to see if it solves your display aberrations.
