Hi,
My old Macbook Pro was damaged but the Harddrive still works. I just got a secondhand Macbook and now I want to use the Pro harddrive externally (just to store files, not to run anything) with the Macbook. I've looked up instructions on removing old harddrive, I can manage that but is much hassle to use it as external drive?

Is it hard to install or are there any risks?

If anyone has done this is it similar to using a external hard drive you could normally buy, and if not what are the differences?

Tried to google for help with this but could not come up with any specific answers, search words too common to other unrelated searches.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

ifixit do repair guides for most models, that will show you how to get the hard drive out properly

MacBook Pro Repair - iFixit

Then its just a matter of buying a 3.5" external case and popping the drive in - easy

Just reformat the drive once its in the external case and you are done
