G4 iBook 800 Mhz 640SDRAM 30GB
Am considering buying the new one. However I notice that the new iBook comes with PC2700U DRAM and mine in my one year old iBook is PC2100U SDRam does that mean again I can't take out the memory in here and use it in the new iBook??? That will be a pain...any ideas if my upgraded meory from a year old iBook is portable into the new one?? Or do the different numbers add up to the fact its a different type? Why do apple do this??? Its HUGELY frustrating.

The 12" has a 133MHz FSB, so the PC2100 should work.
However, the 14" has a 142MHz FSB, which is not only very odd (no other manufacturer uses such an FSB) but also requires PC2700 memory.

PC2700 for a 14" 142Mhz iBook, is that for the new machine only or does that pertain to all 14" iBooks? I thought the 'older' 14" iBooks were 133Mhz bus speed.

Edit; Disregard, I found the answer.

Only the new 14" has the 142MHz FSB, thus needs faster RAMs (PC2700). 133MHz (DDR266) is the clock speed for PC2100 RAM Why Apple has chosen that strange clockspeed is a mistery to me though. It is no conventional speed.
