Hello. I had not had any issues with my WD external hard drive up until today, when it suddenly won't show up for some reason. I am suspecting this may be a Mac OS issue.

The lights on the drive is on and the drive itself is spinning. I also see it in the disk utility. I tried to verify/repair but I get:

I used to be able at least try repair/verify but got:

Invalid content in journal
Invalid sibling link
Error: Filesystem verify or repair failed

Not I can't even repair/verify anymore. Is there any hope of having the HD work properly or restoring anything?

Thanks guys.

G'day and welcome to the forums.

It is telling you it is a gone goose alas. You may like to try a utility such as DiskWarrior, but at $99 cheaper just to purchase a new hard drive.

Yikes. Thanks for letting me know. My hard drive is (was) 1.5 TB so DiskWarrior might be a good option, especially if that is to happen again. I will look into it. Thanks for your advice.
