Things to do with a new/used powerbook - How to start fresh

Okay, it's been a LONG time (7 years) since I worked on my last Mac.

I've just bought a G4 12" from a good friend, so he's left all his documents/programs/etc. on the computer.

Normally I'd just do a system restore, reset everything from the beginning and start from scratch. BUT, there are three things I want that I don't have the CDs for (Tiger being one of them).

So, is there an 'easy' way to add me as a second user, and then delete the original owner? What's the best way to purge the system of the users files?

-Dave

*edit* wow...a LOT has changed since system 7 :p

You can do it, but you need to do it in Terminal. I know this because I did it with step by step instructions from an article in MacWorld last fall. But, I can't find it in thier archives, if you can, good luck.
