Is it possible to keep an application specific to one user only. I seem to remember older OS had a shared application folder and one in the user folder. An example would be for one user have MS Office 2011 as default for all office files including Entourage, and another user having Office 2008 as the default for same. Hope that makes sense

Put/install the application in an Applications folder in your user directory.

Then of course, you have to be the only one who knows how to log in under that User Account.

Thank you, works perfectly. I did need to create a new Applications folder as there wasn't one.
