13" MBP Actual Battery Life?

New switcher here, did a search but didn't see exactly what I was looking for so I thought I would create this thread.

I'm about to buy a new 13" MacBook Pro 2.4GHz base model. I will be using it for college engineering software like MatLab, and regular sofware like Office 2011, surfing the net for school research, email and IM, will be my primary usage. Some light youtube and instructional video's. Some music etc. No video editing, etc.

I've ruled out the new MBA's.

What can I expect for battery life with this type of usage please?

I get about 7-8 hours of normal use like you're describing out of mine. The 10 hour estimate is on minimal settings and just browsing the internet.
