USB Mouse Q for MacBook in clamshell mode

Hi all.

I want to connect my MB to an external monitor and plan to use the Apple wired keyboard w/ the MB in one of those TwelveSouth book arcs. I'm shopping for a wireless IR or BT mouse to use w/ the set up. I'm leaning towards the Logitech Anywhere MX but my Q is whether I can plug the IR receiver into one of the USB ports on either the keyboard or the monitor? Would really like to save my 2 USB ports on the MB for other uses.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. This forum has been a great help since my switch last year.

Yes, the IR receiver generally plugs in to a USB port. There are BT mice but they're not cheap. You can always get a USB hub to extend your number of ports.
