Office 2011 was the last loaded softward. I turned off my macbook pro (2009) for a flight. When I turned the laptop on, after the apple logo, the screen blinked and went white. After 5 tries, 3 white screens, 2 blue screens. I did boot it up in safemode, but that is the only way. WHAT SHOULD I DO TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM?

Welcome to the Mac Forums.

If you can boot in Safe mode, uninstall MS Office 2011, however, make sure you use the MS uninstaller. Do not drag the Office icon(s) into the trash as that will not remove the many components that Office installs.

It may be coincidental that your machine white screened after you installed Office, however, since you can start up in safe mode, it may be related to software. Try the Office uninstall first.

I'm thinking this is probably the case. There's nothing Office installs or even touches during an install that would cause that.

The problem is the the new office 2011 does not have an uninstall program. I have been told to drag it to trash by other blogs, but that seems a bit much. I guess the best thing to do is to uninstall and if that does not work, us my snow leopard OS disk and re-load or repair. What do you think?

Try this program for uninstalling:-

AppCleaner for Mac - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

Was reccomended it by apple and you just drag the program you want to unistall into it and it removes the program and all associated files.

Wow, harry. What a pain! What ever got into MS that they now do not include an uninstaller as they did in Office 2008?

Thanks for that link as I assumed they still included an uninstaller. I haven't installed my copy yet - been busy.

And Charlie for this very reason until they bring out an updated version with the uninstaller ~ it stays on the shelf!

ROFL. :) I gotta agree harry. I've been too busy to install my copy but like you, I think I'll wait to see what MS does. Can't figure the guys in Redmond out... they add back macros but remove the uninstaller.. ??

well I remove MS office and now I continue to get either a blue screen or a black screen with white pinpoints. Also when I load in safemode, I have lost my ability to use a screen saver. It tells me to up date my screen saver software. ?? I only use what came with Snow leopard.
