Hi there.

I have had to turn filevault on on my MacPowerbook Pro, and forgot... (yes I am getting old) to select the remove unencrypted home folder checkbox.

I turned filevault off, then turned it back on, hoping to see the option again; however I do not.

How can I get the option to appear so that I can remove the unencrypted home directory... is there another way to do it? Does it matter?

Regards

Welcome the Mac Forums.

I don't think it matters if you've encrypted the entire drive. I guess you know that your hard drive and data will become "toast" (inaccessible) if you lose or misplace your master password? Unless you're keeping some very secretive information on your hard drive, I highly recommend not using Filevault.

If you havnt got *Shhh Secret Squirrel* stuff to hide from the martians Please dont use filevault. I havnt got a answer to the question, but just have a quick red of the Peoples take on FileVault thread. There is some good info on it but not pertaining to your problem

IMHO its more trouble than its worth ...

Good luck

Cheers

Hi All.

Thanks for the responses.

Normally I wouldn't use Filevault, however there have been some ... break ins thefts, and more thefts in the area, and I can't keep hauling my Mac around (no car..) So I figure I might as well lock it down and trust Jesus to keep it where it belongs.

Regards
