Hi, im planning on buying the newest 13inch MBA which is about $1300USD i was wondering how much it will be reduced if i were to buy it on black friday, also does this discount work in the stores or just online?

Im in australia and the price is $1599 so if that helps.

Thanks Funkdabeat

Black Friday deals, when Apple offers them, do not extend to every model and never add up to more than $100 off.

You'd do better trying to buy a refurbed one right now.

From what I remember...Apple doesn't do much if anything for Black Friday. When they do, it usually doesn't extend to computers.

Remember...only Apple makes Macintosh computers...they have no competitive driving force to reduce prices...or offer super or special Black Friday deals.

Even refurbished machines can still be a bit steep but always cheaper, only problem is they may still have slight underlining issues with them.

The only Black Friday deal on Mac stuff I ever found worthwhile was a discount on MobileMe renewals (.Mac back then) a few years ago. Still, every year I take a look in case an accessory I need is on sale. That said, sometimes Apple resellers put items on sale for Black Friday. Refurbs are usually a good deal if you know what you want and are patient, as the inventory changes quite often at times. I'd imagine it will be at least a few months before any refurbished MBAs show up.

Keep in mind folks that buying Apple care for the MacBook Air is almost a must. I say that because = "No user serviceable parts inside" definitely applies to the Air. Not trying to be witty about it but I know I would not have one without Apple care. And that adds another $249 US to the price.

Also, does Australia have a "Black Friday" sales event like here in the US? Black Friday is the day following the US Thanksgiving holiday which falls on Thursday, Nov 25th this year.

No not that i know of. And that is what confused me about the OP.

We dont have Thanksgiving so doubt we have the *Black Friday* sale.

Being the name *Black* i thought in the US that is was a *halloween* day ;) My bad
But now i am informed. Thanks chscag

Cheers

That's interesting, I didn't know that it was "celebrated" world wide. Actually the "Black" in Black Friday is supposedly the day when retailers can get their sales and balance sheets in the "black". The way the economy has been going here in the US this year, it should be a very vigorous "Black Friday" of sales coming up!

"Black Friday" (some folks may term it as a "scam"...some may call it an "opportunity")...traditionally was supposed to be a way of kicking off the Christmas Holiday "shopping season".

The significance of it being the Friday after Thanksgiving (last Thursday in November in the United States)...is that the Friday after Thanksgiving for many people is an official holiday for most employers...and for folks that don't officially get the day off...they schedule a vacation day...to make it a 4-day weekend.:)

And like someone already mentioned...the "Black" in Black Friday refers to the significant amount of sales that takes place on just one day...and make a BIG impact on many retailers balance sheets.

I'm sure that since the concept of "Black Friday" works so well in the United States (roughly 30 days before Christmas)...can work quite well in other countries. Money is money...retailers are retailers...and any concept that can increase sales & profits will interest any business owner(s) worldwide.

Yeah, we get the black friday deals in Australia, but not all stores, and and price off the MBA would be apreciated because they wont show up in the refurbished section for a few months
