Hey, I'm using a macbook with Mac OS X 10.6.4
The volumes for the speakers and audio output are separate, so when you unplug a jack from e.g. a stereo and then plug in a jack from normal headphones the same volume will remain. This is very inconvenient since a stereo most often has its own volume control and thus you often put the volume of the computer to its maximum. Then next time you use your headphones and plug them in, the jack output volume is still at maximum, which might blow your headphones and even damage your ears.
Is there a way to set a default volume while plugging in a jack?
