Imagine if Halo was on the Mac. Just imagine. None of my friends would be bragging.

Even I have to admit Halo was a pretty good game. But did it make the Xbox out sell the Wii ever? No. So all jobs ranting and raving was totally in vain.

And I would pretty much guarantee Halo would run like garbage on the Mac. Like it or not, Windows is just generally a better gaming platform at this point, especially for high-end resource intensive games.

I totally disagree. It's the PC hardware that make the games run really well. Not windows in my opinion.

First of all, what does the xbox outselling the Wii have to do anything?

The Wii is aimed at a broader share of the market and more towards the casual gamer than the Xbox ever was. Title choice and price point make that pretty much clear.

But clearly, Halo has done something to help sell Xboxes. The first Halo sold along side of 50% of Xbox purchases. Halo 3 doubled the Xbox 360's sales the week before it was released. The total series has sold over 34 million copies.

That's almost half of the Wii sales to date.

Anyways. I don't believe Halo would have helped Apple tremendously. In 2001 when it was released, they were just releasing the flat paneled imac, iirc. The price coupled with the screen size would have been way too much to have one killer game attract that many buyers. Halo: Combat Evolved did sell beside 50% of the Xboxes.

I think the most it could have done is to help drawn other developers to OS X.

Game development houses would tend to disagree. Windows has DIRECTX and good OpenGL support.

Mac on the hand has barely passable OpenGL support.

And that's just graphics. There are alot more reasons why currently Windows is a better dev environment for games. Apple just never made it a priority before.

I think Steve Jobs has a lot more other things to be angry about.

Can you list a few of the things you feel Jobs had reason to be angry at? I am serious BTW.

I really don't pay too much attention to what upsets Steve Jobs or Balmer for that matter. That is why I asked for some examples.

Many would argue that despite not being a gaming device per se, the iPhone/iPod Touch is Apple's gaming device. In fact, Nintendo's president has stated that Apple is a legitimate competitor. Whether you believe that or not is a different story.
