Ibook G4 Backlight help

Hi all , mac or non mac users ..
im having trouble with my mac , everytime i close the lid it the backlight dosent seem to light up , but when ever i am using and on my ibook it seems to light up , i've been looking on my friends mac's and my mum's and whenever you close there lids it seems to light up ?

When you close the lid, the computer goes to sleep, be it iBook, PowerBook, Macbook Air or Macbook Pro... So, the backlight naturally goes off, unless they have caffeine installed to stop it from sleeping when the lid is closed.
